Camp Marketing is a 12 month program.  Even though your resident camp may only be 4 to 6 weeks per year....you need to invite, remind, and encourage use of the camping facilities all year long.  SG Trading Post has many programs that may be used to market outdoor programs and camps.
A.  Camper Recognition -- Camp Chief Little Turtle in the Anthony Wayne Area Council used to give tee shirts to each camper as a participation award.  In 2006, the camp designed a custom cap for distribution.  The results were very good -- campers were pleased, the camp sold more shirts at a profit, and the camp recognition cost became a profit!  To review the program click CCLT
B.  Race Into Scouting Patch -- Tested in the Anthony Wayne Area Council.  Patch set made up of 12 patches -- 1 participation patch, 1 recruiter patch, 10 monthly program patches.  The patch is designed to keep cost to a minimum.  Program was tested in a medium sized council.  We were able to "self liquidate" the patch cost thru program fees -- and created a small profit for this program.  Caution should be exercised in smaller Councils (Some 600, 700 & 800) so you do not overstock your inventory.  You may contact Ron to discuss your program.  I will then work up a proposal budget for your approval.  The patch set can be seen at this link  RIS_Patch.   By the way -- this idea was shared by Doug Nelson @ Crossroads of America Council in Indianapolis and modified for use in AWAC.
C.  Pre Event Order Form -- The Lincoln Pilgrimage is a weekend event that pulls 5000 scouts to Springfield IL in April of each year.  Day of event sales were always at risk due to spring weather.  If it was cold -- there were not enough sweatshirts -- and if the sun shined --there were too many sweats, etc.  We created an order sheet that was sent out with the event registration.  The order form was printed in color for mailing, and was available in electronic form on the council website.  This order form was the only way for the participating units to obtain most of the items.  The more expensive items were limited to pre sales, so the day of event product sales were limited to commemorative tee shirts.  This reduced the risk to the council.  You can review the order form at this link PILGRIMAGE.
